We have often visited emmetts. it was sad to see it so empty. covid really influenced the restaurant industry. we had a great server that was also the bartender. that served immediately and was good.
It was a good culinary experience. our server was exceptional. she gave us room when we needed it, but was still very attentive to our needs. very good experience.
We had a great experience at emmett in wheaton. it's a great environment. the only thing I wanted to mention is that they have this great setting, but the lighting does little to emphasize and show such a great setting. the lights have different types of lighting (daylight vs indoor color temperatures.) the total lighting is too bright. the rooms (ess rooms and bar) would look much more attractive at a lower light level. Of course, these things can be overlooked because eating and service is so good. it is just a scandal that with just a little attention, the lighting to tweaking well add so much more to the culinary experience.
There’s a reason this place was dead on a Friday evening at 7pm… there are far superior restaurants in walking distance. What should be a terrific venue has become a complete bore. The service was slow, despite the place being pretty empty but still having plenty of staff. The menu is flat out awful in both variety and execution. No dinner specials, and really nothing but overly battered deep fried offerings and burgers. My $20 fish and chips entree looked like something off the kids menu, basically just a pile of tasteless French fries, a couple of oversized fish sticks, and the most bland coleslaw I’ve ever tried. This venue is too beautiful for this sort of nonsense. Revamp the menu and find some excitement for what you’re offering. Pub food doesn’t have to be uninspired. Lighten up on the beer batter, serve a reasonably sized piece of fish, and add some statement sides like mashed peas with mint, herb crusted potato wedges and a flavorful remoulade. Let your chef have a little fun with some inventive specials (or find a new one). And for heavens sake, 86 that awful coleslaw.
