Bidrage med feedbackSadly update from Shad Row ATTN: Sadly, Shadrow will NOT be opening this year in Rocky Hill. We are working hard to relocate ASAP. I will update facebook and website moving forward. Thank you and hope to see you all on our next adventure!!
Where else can you get water views with boats and an active ferry within walking distance without having to drive all the way to the Connecticut shore? What 'chu mean you can get one of those in ROCKY HILL?! I 'll tell you all about it. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set WWWAAAYYY out the way deep in Rocky Hill is this gem. It 's very similar to most seaside shacks and that 's okay, but my fiancée and I don 't have to drive an hour to get to this one! Lol. It was a beautiful day after a private car show so we set out for a little adventure. We made our way here and the parking lot was pretty packed, but people were leaving so we waited for them to give up their spot. Smooth move. We went up onto the deck and hung out up there under an umbrella. Service: I can 't remember the name of the young lady that took care of us, but she was kind, sweet and got us everything that we needed. Food: I 've never seen a Lobster BLT before and there 's only ONE thing I can think of that can make lobster better... BACON. So needless to say, it was fantastic. Value: $25.00 gets you a lobster BLT WITH TWO sides. That 's like unheard of. You get to choose from fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, chips, tater tots, onion rings or a side salad (counts as both sides). That 's actually not too bad considering most places only give you the roll and a tiny cup of coleslaw. This place gives you a full meal and I really like that. In conclusion, I 'm glad my fiancée found this place and brought me here! It 's a trek to get to, especially since it 's out the way, but I can certain;y see us coming here again! Cheers.
Ive been wanting to try this place for a while now but plans or weather kept interfering. But this little seafood shack by the ferry is totally worth the extra effort. So many things to love about this. Great seafood (hot or cold lobster rolls were piled high with fresh lobster). Great views. Great service (the waitstaff works HARD). It's an outdoor deck place. Nothing fancy about it but just goodness. Loved it.
This place was very enjoyable to visit but so hard to review. The setting is fantastic. The outdoor shack feel on the water makes you feel transported further away to a beach location. The ambience is perfect. Fresh seafood with a view of the water. My friend ordered the fish and chips. She loved the freshness of the fish. My fish po boy was essentially that same piece of fish in a sandwich. I thought the fish was super fresh. I was less of a fan of the thick breading. I sort of just scraped it off and enjoyed the nice piece of fish inside. Neither of us enjoyed our clam chowder. It was full of clams but we love the brighter white chowder. This was lacking that bright white creamy smoothness. The fries and onion rings were yummy. It's very laid back but friendly service, just what you'd expect of a fish shack. So the bottom line is.....we still thought this place was great and would definitely return and try other menu items and enjoy the nice view and fun décor.
What a hidden treasure! After attending our friend 's bodybuilding show in Manchester, we feasted at Shad Row! Important: CASH ONLY! (Only reason why I 'm giving a 4) The hot lobster roll was so good, I ended up ordering one to go for our drive back to Jersey. Boyfriend got their special for the day, the Surf and Turf (Angus cheeseburger with lobster on top) What 's cool too is that your order comes with two sides lotta places usually charge you extra for that. I really do appreciate places like this where they load the roll with meat. It 's the best when I have to find the bread. The entire menu was affordable and the staff were fun and friendly. Some extra perks: 1) it 's DOG FRIENDLY!!!!! 2) Mint Iced Tea and Lemonade 3) Outdoor seating with a view of the lake (don 't forget bug spray! 4) Again, IT 'S DOG FRIENDLY so bring your PUP! Overall, this place is super laid back and they don 't waste time trying to fluff their menu, you can tell it 's a local spot. So happy we found it on our day trip to CT. Something to note, there 's no bathroom but there 's one walking distance because it 's in the same area as a ferry station. Hopefully we can come back!
