The Boston Tea Party later relocated to 15 Lansdowne Street in the former site of competitor, the Ark, in Boston's Kenmore Square neighborhood, across the street from Fenway Park. It operated from 1967 to the end of 1970. Its closing was due in part to the increasing cost of hiring bands who were playing more and more at large outdoor festivals and arena rock concerts. The building that the club occupied at 15 Lansdowne Street later reopened multiple times as different clubs before becoming the Avalon in 1992. In 2007 Avalon and its neighboring Axis were closed and demolished to make room for a House of Blues, which is what stands on the land today. So there you have it a venue history I'm suggesting you get tickets and go to a show. The brick and mortar may have changed but I have a feeling there's ghosts of concerts past. I'm time traveling back to my days!!
Going to shows on Lansdowne st or original HOBs in Cambridge for years long enough that DOM was in his 30s but hey Who gives a fuk not corporate take over LIVE NATION ok so , recently with the new scan ticket system that didi not work for a P4Pyros show. after denied entry Only to have to go wait in hour long will call line to reissue ticket in cold rainy weather was not in my play book nor am I a 20 something which place is run by these day. HOUSE OF RULES aka Too bad but why the hell do I pay ticket fees if they are not printed mailed any more to begin with and these so called fees should be refunded as my time is money to wait in line miss opening act... I would have stayed in restaurant had I known about this BS....
We stopped in for a drink after the Red Sox game on a Sunday. The building is really cool and the wood work at the bar was very detailed and cool. I ordered the Blood Orange Mezcal, which was very good! It was a large portion and the waitress was great. The drink was $15.50 with all taxes, which was not a bad price since the portion size was like having two drinks.
So when you buy a ticket you pick seats, when the eticket shows up its general admission standing only, super deceptive. And someone booked a jazz trio to open for Echo and the bunnymen. Are you kidding me? At least vaguely match the genre! I'm sure they ate good but if i wanted jazz i wouldn't be at a new wave 80's concert. This is ridiculous. Never coming here again
Just got in from the Saxon and Uriah Heep concert and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my time this evening at HOB.I've always been under the impression from reading other reviews that if you sneeze the wrong way they'll throw you out but I didn't see one ejection tonight, not a single rude staff member or any inebriated fans.We had tickets on the 3rd floor and the seating up there was extremely comfortable with great sightlines and plenty of room.If your hesitant like I was about going here try and be open minded!I will DEFINITELY be back again for another show in the future! The one thing I would say is that it did get a little stuffy so some extra airflow would be nice!
