Bidrage med feedbackNot my first visit to Maurizio but a very enjoyable one. A business lunch with a difference started with a cooking class to learn how to make "guitar pasta" - a good icebreaker for a business lunch, if needed! we enjoyed seafood chowder and our pasta - lots of fun!
Shocking behaviour from the owner - so rude!He stormed off when we tried to order desserts (we had already eaten dinner and we called ahead to confirm that it would be fine for us to order desserts only) and when we asked for table water. He refused to let us order one of the desserts because he did not have time to make it (the restaurant was half empty on a Friday night) and then he told one of the waitresses not to take our order! We were shocked at his behaviour - very rude and unprofessional!WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
A group of friends and I called ahead to ask if it was okay to book a table for dessert only as we were in the area for dinner and sought to try Maurizio's after looking at their menu. The only reason we turned up was because we were told it would be okay. Upon our arrival we shown our table and menu. We had a delightful waitress whose role was later taken over by the owner. We politely ordered 3 desserts to share, which included one which fascinated us as it was said to have a presentation with it. Maurizio muttered something in Italian then told us "he was too busy" to serve us that. At the time we were confused out of shock at that response so we pressed on and chose something else (in denial of what was happening I suppose). As we completed our order we politely asked if we had tap water on our table seeing as we had asked for that from the waitress prior to him but had been served otherwise. Maurizio then scrunched up our order and threw it in one direction angrily storming off from our table dramatically. We were shocked and grabbed our bags to leave. For five professional girls this was an outstanding experience for all the wrong reasons.
If you are going to charge $46 for most of your main courses then they better be good. I'm afraid they are not. I know that it's Italian but far too much garlic, and in 2 of our mains the garlic was burnt.
I went Wed 12 April for a fantastic dinner with my girlfriend in Maurizio 's restaurant, Fitzgerald Street. I had a nice and tasty entreé with Italian Porcini mushrooms, fresh prawns, and a nice baccalà in the real italian old stile, and after I had a very tasty spaghetti chitarra all'amatriciana. I've very apreciated the service, the staff was prepared and professional. I really had a magic night, I will come back the next week.
