Joey's Café - West Hollywood

I’ve eaten here several times now and I’ve never been disappointed. From breakfast through lunch all the way to dinner, Joey’s does it right. Walk right up and take a seat, inside or outside, someone will be right there with menus to give and drink orders to take. The napkins, forks, knives and spoons are right there in a container on the table to make it easy for everyone. The orders come fast, fresh and delicious. The bacon is always crisp and the greens are mouth-wateringly earthy. The burgers, seasoned with rosemary, have an amazing flavor I’ve never had anywhere else. I’ve tried many different things on the menu now and as much as I try to change it up, more often than not now I end up ordering the California turkey burger.

It 's always a little bit disappointing when things are really good; I do so look forward to being able to write another snarky review. But sadly, nothing at Joey 's earns that sort of eager disparagement. The menu was interesting and varied enough to satisfy most appropriate tastes; the place is clean, nicely designed, reasonably quiet and infested with a wonderful assortment of West-Hollywood types, from the stunning blonde by the far wall, memorizing her lines, to the sad young midwesterner at the table beside ours, lamenting his on-stage misfortune. <br/ <br/ My choice was chilaquiles, my favourite dish In The Whole World, after pasta, pizza, and ice cream. At $12 a copy, I was sure I 'd be able at least to grouse about the poor value. Sadly, though, the price seemed reasonable by the time I finished, since the plate came nicely piled with very-well-made chilaquiles à la moda la bajía, refritos negros similarly well-prepared, and a huge pile of scrambled eggs fluffy enough to be a little girl 's favourite pet. <br/ <br/ The service, by the way, was of a superior sort, delivered by a cheerful young man (not the cute one named in another review, but the also-cute, if your tastes run that way, Eric. When I told him I would like a 'small fruit ', he looked excited, and seemed just a little dejected but not surprised when I added the word 'bowl '. I stumbled across Joey's whilst I was in L.A. It was a short walk from where I was staying in WeHo. I decided to take a seat outside so I could people watch. I scanned the menu for something new. There it was. Green eggs and ham. Now I've only heard of this from Dr. Seuss and it was always stuck in my head. So now was the perfect opportunity to try it.The ham was thick cut and full of flavor, the eggs were scrambled but did not deter me because of their color. I chose the fruit salad option as my accompaniment and washed it all down with a fresh OJ.The waiter was very attentive and it was a nice place to enjoy some breakfast in the L.A sunshine. Highly recommended.

Fast, friendly service, and delicious, fresh breakfast fare. A nice mix of lighter options, all the way to breakfasts for the big appetite. I had the eggs bruschetta which was incredibly good! A slice of multigrain toast topped with 2 eggs over medium and fresh Roma tomato bruschetta. It comes served with fresh fruit or home style potatoes...both delicious!
