Sushi No Mai - Watford

This Japanese restaurant is probably the most authentic I've been to, with all Japanese staff and beautifully presented specials. I highly recommend it.

My dining experience at the restaurant was not great. We asked to sit outside and observed that people who arrived after us were served and left before us. It took 40 minutes for us to receive our order, which consisted of only two dishes and a bottle of water. The food was average, but the portions were small. I found it odd that we were asked to pay before receiving our order. I was disappointed and felt uncomfortable during the meal. I mentioned my concerns to the server after eating, but she did not address them. It was a disappointing experience, and I couldn't help but wonder if our treatment was influenced by our skin color.

I decided to try the ramen at this restaurant, but I was not particularly impressed. The taste was average, but the service was good. Perhaps their sushi is better; it looked fresh.

I love this place but I'm a bit gutted as they don't seem to have sushi take away anymore. I totally understand that this was down to the sad passing of one of the owners. I will continue to check back and hope they start again soon. The quality of food is always amazing and service is great. The owner always greets you when you arrive and after my recent visit she remembers me even from the days when they were in the old market. Definitely worth giving it a go.

Very nice and typical Japanese small shop. unassuming but very professional. Looks like family run.
