Bidrage med feedbackFirst time to waskasu and we were walking around town when we happened upon a very cool looking Chinese restaurant. We thought why not, beats hotdogs over the fire but NO. It's over priced, mostly tough or soggy selections. First clue should have been how empty it was during dinner hour when the other snack shops were packed.
The outside of the building is very nice - log cabin look with large outside area. There were lots of bugs when we were there, as we had been getting lots of rain. It rained on and off the entire weekend that we were in Waskesiu. The prices were quite high (resort prices. I ordered Chinese food and it was average for me. The one thing that wasn't very good was the egg roll. There was virtually nothing inside the eggroll. It was just fried batter. I was quite disappointed as they are one of my favorite chinese food dishes. My son ordered a vietnamese noodle bowl which he really liked. The other kids had just fried food. The owner was gracious enough to make one item free (poutine), when he asked if everything was ok and I said that my eggroll was not great and that he forgot the gravy for one meal.
We visit this restaurant every time we are in town. The food is amazing. I don't usually like chow mein and it's the best thing ever here! The service can be slow at times as I think everyone is working at a bunch of different areas.
At Waskesiu Lake here is not a wide choice of restaurants. If you are seeking Asian food there is only one choice - The Asian Station. Decor is bland, furnishings are basic, service appears to be limited to that provided by the chef. The menu is principally Chinese and not extensive. Four of us ordered different dishes. Only one enjoyed his choice - the Delux Wantom Soup. The others found the food to be bland with one meal left untouched it was so bad.Sorry but I Could not recomment this establishment to my worst enemy.. Hard to see how it can survive but with tourists coming and going I guess it will.
Pop served in cans, in a restaurant that needs a major facelift! We were a bit nervous when we walked in and there was not 1 person in the place (it was noon). The prices are resort-inflated (like everything in waskesui). Water was served warm (no ice) in plastic cups. This place was seriously small-town ghetto but the food was GOOD! We ate family style, order 3 dishes, and all were tasty. This was a nice change from the pizza and burger menu that was offered everywhere else in waskesiu. Don't choose this place if you want ambiance, but go for it if you are hungry!
