Mastro's Steakhouse - Washington, D.C.

On our last night in Washington, D.C., my group of 6 had dinner at this restaurant. We found it strange that we had to pay for the "bread service," as it is typically complimentary at other restaurants. Unfortunately, my cocktail was weak and lacked flavor, and my food arrived cold and incorrect. I had ordered a crab cake appetizer (to be served with my main course) and a filet mignon butterflied, but my filet was not prepared as requested. Additionally, the crab cake was simply placed on top of the filet without any additional accompaniments. After sending it back, the dish returned warm, properly butterflied, but overcooked.

I made a reservation for a birthday dinner for my partner at this restaurant while I was outside of the US. My partner had an incredible dinner. He ordered the steak and lobster dish, lobster soup, bread, and wine for himself. In the end, the restaurant presented him with a beautiful cake with a "Happy Birthday" message. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We would definitely love to visit again in the future.

Wow! I had heard great things, and every bit as good as I had heard and then some; I went in to treat myself and ended up being treated! The atmosphere is a dim, upscale wood and leather look with a soft big band and jazz style in the background, though I sat at the bar to later hear the pianist. I was seated at a table right away by the manager and offered a few cocktails they were known for. I struggled to choose, so my server asked if I would like to try a take on two

The steaks were cooked just right. Our waiter was polite and make our evening more enjoyable. The lobster mash potatoes had plenty of lobster meat; however, it was oily. If you like lemon drops then you should definitely try theirs because of the taste and presentation. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were huge. We had added crab meat to one of the steaks; however, we felt as though the restaurant could have included more meat relative to the cost of the dish but

This review is strictly for the waitress named Nicole. We would have given 5 stars if she did not taint our experience in the beginning. We were told by the hostess that she would be our ?wonderful? waitress. She also came over to bring us menus and ask our water preference as if she was our waitress. However, for some odd reason the waiter was switched. When she was acting as our waitress, she was extremely short when answering our questions seemed as though she did not
