Finn Porter - Washington, D.C.

My group of friends and I went to this restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately, the server forgot to take my daughter and my orders, and when questioned, he blamed me for not ordering. We were very hungry and when our burgers finally arrived, they were rushed and undercooked. The ******, soggy buns left all of us without appetites. To top it off, the automatic gratuity and high bill were disappointing. However, the manager was notified and was very gracious, which helped improve the overall experience.

I recently dined at Finn and Porter and ordered the New York steak. I was very impressed with the service. It had been a while since I had a good steak, but this one was perfect. My server, Gabriella, was extremely friendly and efficient. She answered all my questions and made sure my food was cooked just right.

Finn Porter is a hidden gem on 10th street in downtown DC, and it is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in the city, especially for their gourmet sushi. While it may be pricier than smaller sushi spots, their menu also includes steaks, sandwiches, meats, and seafood dishes. I highly recommend starting with the Mediterranean platter, which comes with roasted red peppers, hummus, and olives – it's perfect for sharing and is beautifully presented with warm pita bread. The sushi selection is fantastic, with fresh fish and a variety of options including tofu pockets and sashimi. The main dishes, such as the ahi tuna and scallops, are on the pricier side but definitely worth it. The side dishes are large and perfect for sharing. Keep in mind that the service can be a bit slow, so plan for a leisurely dining experience. And be sure to save room for dessert – the pumpkin cheesecake is a must-try! Please note that some items on the menu may be seasonal.

Food was good, and service was excellent. The restaurant was quiet; so it was easy to turn around as a group. We had a good time!

I come here often and it’s always a great place for after work cocktails that also serve great food. Whether if you’re by yourself or with a group, the hostess and bartenders are always willing to give you the best experience.
