Soul Da Licious - Walton

The cell reception was very poor, it only took 20 minutes for them to serve my pizza. The pizza was pretty soggy and I expected more of a selection for toppings.

So incredibly disappointed. We were very excited about this place opening in Walton and since you never have any idea when they’ll be open, it took a while before we had a chance to actually do it. We got ox tail and curry goat dinners, one with mac cheese and one with rice peas. Nothing that we tried was very good. Definitely not worth driving to Walton and paying for. The goat and ox tail were both bland and chewy. It also came with under cooked yams that were way too sweet and raw (as in crunchy) potato salad that would have been good if the potatoes had been cooked, and collard greens that were somehow watery and vinegary at the same time. We also each got a dinner roll that was so stale and hard that I wonder exactly what month they bought them. The mac cheese and rice peas were OK but not good again, very bland. Maybe I am biased having lived in a Caribbean neighborhood in NYC and having friends from the Islands that have shown me how delicious these foods can be (which is why I was excited about this place opening) but even if I had never had any of these dishes before I still would know that it is bad. Add to this that they seem to have a completely random schedule.. I wish them luck.

I got the jerk chicken, red beans rice, collard greens, and beef empanadas. Also came with candied yams and plantains, and macaroni salad. It was so good! Lots of food, lots of flavor. I like that the jerk was well spiced but not hot so you can add your own level of heat. I'm coming back for the oxtail!
