Pagoda - Wakefield

Greeted warmly on arrival drinks order taken quickly. A lot of staff still wearing masks which is a bit off putting but personal choice I guess. Ordered a set meal which was great value. Food was fresh delicious (except for the chicken sweetcorn soup which was like not quite set jelly couldn’t eat it) We had a bit of trouble with staff forgetting our table we had to call them over to clear plates. Mostly though they were available. Overall a really lovely dinner and will be going back.

My family and I arrived on time for dinner at this restaurant. Despite there being empty tables downstairs, we were seated upstairs. We ordered wine and beer, but were given the wrong drinks. The staff seemed disorganized when taking orders from tables. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to receive our starter, and even then it was late. The main courses arrived 30 minutes later, but had to be sent back as they were cold. The plates we finally received were hotter than the food. The carpet downstairs felt sticky, reminiscent of a nightclub. The men's toilets were not very clean, with paintwork that resembled a mechanic's workshop. While face masks were not required, gloves would have been appreciated. This is not a complaint, but an honest review of our experience. Despite trying to save money, this restaurant does not provide good value for the current financial situation.

Lovely and welcoming staff, seated quickly in a plush looking room with koi carp in a pond nearby. Chose the banquet for 4 and were not disappointed. Hot and sour soup to start which was spicy and full of fish and meat. Crispy duck pancakes were excellent. Could have maybe done with a little more cucumber/spring onions but there was ample duck. Starters were good. Mains were very nice indeed. Prawns in black bean, crispy beef, katsu curry, rice, chicken in orange. Staff were pleasant and very efficient. Well worth a visit!

I’ve wanted to try Pagoda for a while now and finally I got round to visiting! On arrival the first thing I thought was how lovely the restaurant looked from the outside! When we stepped through the door all the staff were there and gave a lovely warm welcome! We ordered soup, duck and a main of sweet and sour chicken! Before our food arrived the staff brought over a metal tray with candles inside to rest your food on to keep it warm which I thought was a great idea! All I can say is how delicious the food was and how much I enjoyed it! And the service! Brilliant! Thank you!

We have just visited as a family of 8 for my son’s birthday. We have never had a meal as bad anywhere. We arrived at 8pm only to be rushed to order straight away. The staff stood behind us whilst eating the starters waiting to take the plates away before we had even finished. The waiters were rude and the food was disgusting. The curry was like dish water, everything was cold, the noodles were bone dry, chicken was slimy, even the salt pepper chips were bad cold and tasteless. It was way over priced for such awful food. Our local takeaway is a million times better. I don’t know how it’s staying open and would never recommend it to anyone. AWFUL STAFF DISGUSTING FOOD
