Akash Lounge - Wakefield

The restaurant formerly known as Akash Lounge has changed ownership twice and is now operating under the name "Viceroy." Unfortunately, the new management has not maintained the same quality. The food is mediocre and the establishment does not have a liquor license.

While working in Pontefract, I was in search of a great curry and discovered this restaurant through TripAdvisor. The chicken tikka was a pleasant surprise compared to traditional Bangladeshi curry houses and felt more authentic (I lived in India for 3 years, so I know). The madras was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spice, and the garlic rice was deliciously garlicky. I visited on a Wednesday and took advantage of the special menu, which offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning soon.

The food at this restaurant is consistently amazing. This was our third visit and it never disappoints. We especially love the family garlic naan. It's a wonderful Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant located in Hemsworth.

Well. Where to start? Firstly the service was tasty, the food was absolutely very tasty so very tasty. The music was absolutely smack daddy. Felt like solardo was playing a set. I will be returning. I recommend the Bombay potato’s if you want a 10/10 taste that is very affordable. The guy who waiters is an absolute G, my man what a guy. Really great. Took our own drinks so very cheap overall. I only regret one thing and that’s not bringing cold drinks, although they have ice. Tesco where to start with you. I am absolutely fuming I had to accompany my food with a warm super dock in a warm beer glass. God bless the queen. Also I wish I wore different trainers although these are quite comfy (adidas ozweegos). On to spoons now to get mashed. Tasty. BOSH

If they were giving their food away I wouldn’t go back This was Indian food where it was evident that they looked to limit the amount of meat in the dishes Who wants to go to a restaurant where they cut corners on quality and nature of the ingredients ? Never had a sizzler as a starter that included battered ‘iceland’ type food that had obviously come out of a freezer. Rest of pretty meagre quite a bit non meat. onion Bhaji in a sizzler? Naans thin dry, loads of rice I assume to offset so little meat Curry average my friend had something in his that he couldn’t recognise as meat or vegetable They had a £14 special on that night, any starter, any main plus rice or naan. I said to the waiter to serve usual food and not the ‘budget’ curry if necessary we’d pay extra But we got the budget curry paid extra Had only two bottles of red wine in the restaurant Frankly find the other reviews very positive food quite bizarre went in at 7.25pm on a Thursday night it was completely empty. We were on a golf trip so had got a taxi there, so couldn’t really not go in with such positive reviews how could we go wrong
