Bidrage med feedbackWe went inside and found a nice, clean and cozy atmosphere. The waiter very friendly and knowledgeable. We choose the fish, Dorado and Seabass. Both fish have been grilled and seasoned to perfection. The slight smoky test gave it a nice touch. According to the waiters suggestion, we settled for a nice white wine. It has been a great dinner experience, and we will be back.
Food excellent. Service very friendly. But be careful here because the prices for the couvert are extremely misleading on the menu and in reality work out as much or more than the main meal. We were a couple and charged 16.50€ for the basic couvert bread butter olives and pate.
Our favourite restaurant Nova Caravela was temporarily closed so we ended up, purely at random, at the Restaurante Carvalho located at the hotel Atlântica. We ordered the fish of the day Soalho Meunière or Sole Meunière. What a big mistake: it was everything but nothing of what a sole meunière should be. Meunière is simply panfried in brown butter whereas this fish, not a sole, was drenched in oil served with orange and pineapple slices and the usual accompaniment of shredded carotts, brocollis and boiled potatoed. On top of that the fish was not fresh. We also ordered the cake of the house which was very sweet. All in all a dissappointing experience not to be repeated.
After being given menus, within seconds we were being asked if we were ready. We chose pizza and paella. I chose a wine from the menu we were persuaded to have the house wine. A selection of starters arrived and we were told we would only pay for what we ate. I was just biting into my bread and a portion of paella arrived. I must have looked confused, the waiter asked if I wanted it, then took it away before I could answer. After some discussion it appeared they cooked a big paella and served portions from it. When the pizza arrived after some 15 minutes, the portion of paella returned, which had obviously been kept warm, as it was in a super hot dish and was very dry. It looked pretty, but it was very bland. The pizza was also very bland and very poor value. Go elsewhere, there are much better places
