Lovely food and drink if you are patient but queuing time was dreadful

Helpful and kind staff. Lovely cafe with views over the lake. Efficient ordering and food good. Lovely walk around the lake followed by lunch on a beautiful sunny day. Restrooms: Usual high standard of all restrooms in Windsor Park

We have come to this cafe several times in the past. It is in a lovely setting and the food is normally very good and good value for money. However, going by our experience it has certainly gone downhill. Firstly when we arrived we had trouble finding a clean table. There were several free tables but none of them had been cleared and they still had dirty dishes on them. We gave our order at the till And we’re told everything would be brought to our table. This is unusual as they normally give you your drinks immediately and you take these to your table. After a wait, we received our food but we were not given any cutlery. We had to ask the waitress who said that they didn’t have any clean cutlery and would have to wait till they had been cleaned! We also asked for our drinks but she just said they would come soon. 15 minutes later, still no cutlery and no drinks! We then asked another waitress who also had a couldn’t care less attitude. Our food was now cold so we sent it back. We finally got our drinks and they got the order wrong! By this time we were livid. They brought me another meal, which I’m sure was just the same one heated up, even though I specifically said I wanted a fresh one. We spoke to the manager who was very apologetic and said they had staff problems today. Nothing offered though by way of compensation. I have never been anywhere where they serve you food when they dont have any spare cutlery and expect you to wait for it. How do you eat baked beans with your hands! All in all a bad experience!

Stunning setting. Friendly staff. Great menu. Having said that ....I had a coffee and a slice of walnut coffee cake. The cappuccino was great. The cake however had no taste and certainly did not taste of coffee nor walnut. Mum had a scone and the scone was very small. Will return but will avoid the cakes. Will post again after having a meal there.
