Le Tropical

This restaurant is situated on the front, it is opposite the beach. A lot of choice on the menu. Chicken piri piri and Indonesian chicken skewers were ordered. Absolutely lovely when served. Piping hot and very tasty. I opted for the ice cream sundae with hot cherry sauce for dessert that was also lovely. 3 drinks and bill came to € 35 which was not bad for what we had ordered.

We visited on a very busy Sunday night and the indoors part of the place was packed with Dutch-speaking customers. Service was slow and not that friendly but portions were decent and food quality was pretty decent. My attempts at holiday Portuguese fell by the wayside with the Bangladeshi waiter! Fair enough, but a wee smile would have made a difference. Anyway, I had piri piri half chicken, my wife had breaded chicken breast. Mine was OK, my wife's was very good. The beer however, was off. It had a sour taste. Out of curiosity, we tried Super Bock elsewhere in the town and found it fine. It's just the beer at Le Tropical that is bad. Having said all that, we might go back and choose wine. We'll just not bother trying for any banter with the waiter.

Loved it ! Needed a place for a light lunch not huge meals and chips. Chicken salad and smoked salmon salad yummy. D had some prawns with a salad . The owner from Buckinghamshire was super friendly and helpful . While we were there today she helped another customer find a suitable apartment for a month and another with details for a trip to Spain ! For no advantage to her just to be helpful .

Super friendly place opposite the taxi rank. Amazing value for money, various snacks meals drinks. Live music on a Sat afternoon , well worth booking a table as it can be very busy. Quick service with a smile and a chat with Lucy who makes everyone feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. You never feel you have to rush, it's a great place to watch the world go by and relax. Definitely worth a visit.

Weekend break in Monte Gordo. Walking by and found this restaurant. Stopped for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. Lucy is so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended.
