Al Pestello - VICENZA

Excellent local in a quiet street in the historic center of Vicenza. The dishes are strictly those of the local tradition, presented with competence and savoir faire. Honest prices, calculated 40€ per head for two dishes, glass of wine, and bitter at the end. Allow me to give two small tips: 1) the presentation of the dish could be treated slightly better; 2) since the menu is very variable, a day card would be a good idea. Anyway, great lunch. Recommended.

The food was fabulous, with locally sourced products prepared by a genuinely interested chef. Sitting in the quiet walled street on a warm summer evening was a perfect experience. We had eaten duck pasta in several locations during our Italian trip and this was simply the best version of the dish. Reasonably priced and highly recommended.

We booked at least a month in advance. And then the day before our reservation we got this text from the restaurant: “Hi, I'm Riccardo Ristorante at Pestello in Vicenza, we received a reservation in the name of XXXX tomorrow evening at 8 pm for three people, unfortunately there was an error in the booking system and tomorrow it was scheduled to close for maintenance on our equipment. We apologize for the inconvenience but we have to cancel the reservation”. I replied that I understood and if they could recommend another good restaurant. Never heard back. I get it that these things happen but – seriously – the night before? They could have said to come back the day after, they’d comp us glass of prosecco, just some sense that they actually cared. It’s not as if they didn’t have the time cuz they were busy preparing dishes… So this review and retains applies only to the service. Sadly, I didn't get to taste the food.

DON’T GO! Come on, we know how reservation works, the restaurant was empty then they told there is only one table close to the toilet that was smelling public toilet. I had to ask to change for another waitress that ask to choose. After this episode, I can’t eat meat, when I told to the waitress he looks at a face that I was an alien. So rude so bad! DONT GO!

Historical inn of Vicenza cuisine with revisited recipes. excellent selection of wines and excellent service. price a little more than average, but recommended.
