Bidrage med feedbackWe were staying in Montorio within walking distance. The first night we tried ordering from the main menu, and on our second visit we tried the pizzas. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the meals excellent.
We were staying at Hotel Brandoli and didn't realise their restaurant closed on Sunday evening. The lovely receptionist, Zuleika, told us of this pizzeria in a nearby village. We were driven by hunger to give it a try as I don't care for pizza but will force one down in an emergency! Having been sightseeing in the centre of the city since breakfast, without any food, this was now an emergency! What a fantastic surprise Magnum turned out to be. From the moment we entered this very busy, noisy place we were made to feel welcome. Our waiter didn't speak much English and our Italian is almost non-existent but we ordered drinks and were left to study the huge menu. I chose the prosciutto and melon for starter and a seafood pizza to follow. My husband had polenta with gorgonzola to begin and pizza with a variety of cured meats for seconds. The portions were absolutely huge and, needless to say, desserts were a step too far although those being served to other tables looked fantastic. Magnum seemed to be doing a fantastic trade, with take-aways and deliveries as well as the restaurant side which had several large groups celebrating birthdays etc. but the staff seemed completely unflappable. Identical twins as waitresses was an added bonus as they were indistinguishable apart from the colour of their uniforms so that made ordering drinks and asking for the bill even more exciting. Requests were often given to one but carried out by the other and they didn't seem to both be around at the same time!! I did wonder if we were being served by a quick-change artist. We'd had such a wonderful evening that we decided to visit again. The restaurant wasn't as busy mid-week but everything else remained the same. Excellent food, reasonable prices, friendly atmosphere. A lucky find.
We stayed at the Hotel Brandoli for a number of days in order to tour this area of Italy. Each morning we followed the walking path across from the hotel into this small village and noticed this local pizzeria. It was such a nice surprise eating here for the first time. Our expectations were not very high as the atmosphere looked like a typical pizza place. Well, the service was great with our waiter, Constantine, speaking just enough English to help us order. My pasta and my husband's pizza were both made with the freshest ingredients and tasted delicious. The pizza is cooked in a wood fueled oven. We ended up returning two more evenings for dinner. Each night Constantine waited on us and we would chat a bit. It felt very comfortable, being surrounded by local families enjoying good food. Our last meal there we ordered a pasta with seafood dish and a vegetable pizza. Both dishes were wonderful. Later we posted a picture of those meals to Facebook. So if you are in this area and want a wonderful local place to enjoy Italian food, visit this restaurant. I'm sure it will be a nice surprise for you too.
