Portillo's Barnelli's Vernon Hills

Portillo's leaps way past Five Guys! Super fresh toppings on portillo's burgers and dogs separate them from the other burger places in the area. The grilled flavor is excellent. The fries are really good. Let's face it, if Portillo's goes national, it's going to put the other places to shame. The staff was amazing, my wife noticed it right away! She was very pleased with the lady that took the orders, she had such a very nice demeanor, it was refreshing. The young man who did the table, wiping it off and disinfecting it was very particular about making sure the entire table was clean top to bottom. I would have to say, that is a rarity even in this covid-19 era. We had a retirement party on zoom, and so we bought a whole chocolate cake. Boy is that tasty.

A Chicago staple you have to try. They are known for their Italian Beef which I recommend with the sweet peppers. My husband tried the Maxwell Street Polish sausage and it was just ok. Everyone also raves about the chocolate cake shake. We thought it was decent but definitely overhyped. I still recommend trying it out for yourself!

Was on vacation and found this jewel of a restaurant. Reasonable for a family of 5. Everything we tried was delicious. Out of the week we were there went 4 times to eat there. Had to hit it again, The day we left the cake shake are awesome

Portillos is always a top tier joint. While my Spicy Chicken Sandwich was very delicious! My girlfriend went with the Chicken Diavolo Pasta and it was a tad bit lacking in the flavor department. Tasted bland and not what it once used to be. The fries were perfect! Loved the crispy exterior with airy fluff interior. Now the Chocolate Cake shake I heard MANY great things about but never got around to it. This time I did and can I say it certainly lives up to the hype. It was so delicious and the cake at the bottom what next level! I loved it so much. While the pasta wasn’t to what we remember it being. Overall it remain a spot that is for the most part consistently delicious.

Our go to place for hot dogs and burgers! It never disappoint us whenever we stop here for dinner! The char-grilled Maxwell street polish sausage was delicious and the single cheeseburger was just cooked right and very tasty! The chili cheese dog was very good too, but kinda messy!
