Marisqueria Ramos - Vélez-Málaga

This restaurant is within walking distance from us and we have wanted to try it for ages. It was about 20.30 on a Saturday evening. As we entered there were 2 young girls sitting at a table eating while their parents were at the bar. There were a few men also at the bar. The man behind the bar just stared at us and after a while another guy, presumably the waiter/owner directed us to any table we wanted. He asked us what we wanted to drink and then reappeared to us ask what we wanted to eat. I asked for Rape but he said the only one he had was too big. So we opted for a salad between us for starters and then Rosada (en plancha) each, which he suggested and a plate of chips. We were given a bowl of mixed salad and before we finished it, we were presented with a piece of Rosada each and a handful of lettuce on the plate. Also a plate of chips, between us, floating in oil. We were really disappointed with the whole experience especially as the two girls were playing hide and seek around the restaurant including our table. We will not return and it was not something we want to repeat.

Great fish restaurant. Tremendous choice fresh from a display at the entrance. Helpful waiter who explained all the fish on display in detail and how they could be cooked and presented.

We found this restaurant whilst visiting the Saturday Market in Caleta de Velez. Modern décor, very clean and good service. On entering the restaurant and before reaching the bar there is a large chiller cabinet full of fresh fish and shell fish to choose from, sold by weight. We choose to dine from the main menu. The bar serves drinks and fish tapas and at 3pm on a Saturday was packed. We had fortunately pre booked a table as the restaurant quickly filled up with the locals. The menu comprises only of fish and shell fish. We dined on three half portions of different types of fish at all €5 euros a plate. The Salad Completo comprised lettuce, onion, tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, sweet corn and tuna.....for €5.50, a very generous portion and to much for two people.The house wine...a large glass ...is €2.00. A very good dining experience at very competitive prices. The week before we dined in one of the harbour side restaurants. The food was no were near as good, the salad was awful and 3 euros a plate more. Easy to find on the main A340 near the street market.

Marisco y pescado de calidad. Plancha, frito, cocido… cocinado de diferentes formas pero todas con un gran sabor. El restaurante es amplio, tiene buen servicio y hay buen ambiente.

Marisco excelente, pescados de calidad y platos contundentes como los callos. Hormigón, atún con tomate… Servicio genial.
