Visited on: Weekend. There was no wait time and reservations are recommended.
Don't miss the guided tour of the museum that was included in the entrance fee The guide was easy-going and knowledgeable. Gave a very interesting and pleasant experience of the visit and better than just strolling around. However, the ferry over to Kastellet was expensive Visited on: Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No
Historic building on an island. A ferry ride away from Stockholm. Visited on: Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure
I absolutely adored my experience at this place. The Vaxholm fortress is truly impressive, complete with a spacious courtyard and an abundance of roses (we visited in July). The fortress also houses a restaurant (with limited fika options during lunch hours) and a delightful museum. The entrance fee for adults was 100kr, unfortunately there was no discount for students. I found the basement level, which showcases how people used to live in Vaxholm, to be particularly fascinating. The stories were narrated very effectively with a range of multimedia experiences. The short cable ferry ride to reach the fortress was a bit pricey (100kr for a roundtrip). Visit date: Weekday. Wait time: None. Reservation recommended: Yes.
