La Grange - Varennes-sur-Loire

We didn't fancy cooking on a Sunday night so decided to try this resto despite the recent reviews. We found a welcoming, friendly atmosphere, excellent choice of menus or a la carte. We found something for 4 adults and 4 kids aged 8 -13 and we all thought the food was excellent. We liked the fact you can choose your side orders and the desserts were amazing. French onion soup, terrine, boeuf bourginon, fries were all brilliant... we'll be going back...

We were looking forward to a relaxed and enjoyable last night of our holiday with some good food and wine. Unfortunately, although this restaurant provides quite a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service, the food was the worst we'd had during our three week holiday in France and Spain. The wine was well priced and reasonable and at first sight the set menu (we opted for the 30 euro menu) looked like good value and offered some inspiring dishes. What we received however was quite bland and had the appearance, texture and taste of having been heated up and not freshly cooked. The dauphinois potatoes were dry, the meat was over cooked, the salads undressed and even the fries had a funny taste. None of our party of six enjoyed the meal which was such a shame as we had been looking forward to a good last evening, but were left over 200 euros lighter and very disappointed. If the standard of the food matched the service and the friendliness of the staff this could be a wonderful place to dine.

Un peu réticente au début car ce restaurant est placé juste à coté d'un camping, on pourrait croire que c'est un piège à touristes et bien non ! Agréablement surprise de l'accueil, du service et dans les plats c'est un vrai régal ... Et la cerise sur le gâteau un menu enfant qui change des habituels saucisses frites et steack haché. Ici on propose aux enfants des mini-blanquette, des mini-bourguignon, les enfants se régalent autant que les parents. Dommage que ce restaurant soit aussi loin de chez moi mais à la prochaine occasion j'y retourne sans réfléchir. Bravo à toute l'équipe

Excellent food, good choice on the menu, will definitely be back , We had the set menu 20 euros, plenty of choice, The Creme brûlée was amazing

J'y suis allée ce soir avec 2 amis, et vraiment on a été très bien accueilli, le patron est venu plusieurs fois à notre table pour savoir si tout se passait bien. Nous avons pris un menu à 25€ , dans le mien j'ai choisi une salade de la brèche (chèvre, champignon, gésier, tomate..) très copieuse ! En plat j'ai eu des moules au beurre blanc avec des frites en accompagnement puis des profiteroles en dessert. J'ai vraiment été ravie. Je vous le conseille sans hésitation !
