Bidrage med feedbackAfter finishing work one evening, I decided to check Yelp for a new restaurant to try. It turned out to be a great decision as I absolutely loved the place and even brought my boyfriend there a few weeks later.
This restaurant is small with unconventional stools and small tables. Despite its size, it offers a variety of featured rolls such as the Volcano Roll and the Brown Hub Roll (although the name is a bit questionable). I opted for the Aburi box as I enjoy the compartmentalized eating experience. The Aburi oshi was decent, but the rice texture was off. The tempura was well-executed, but the chicken teriyaki was not to my liking. Overall, I had heard good things about Sushi Hub and finally decided to give it a try, and while it was okay, it did not exceed my expectations.
The restaurant is not very large, but the dining area appeared clean and in order. I suppose word about this restaurant had not really spread, as it was not packed even during peak lunch hours. As such, we had a comfortable amount of room at our table
Ordered the Pink Hub, California roll, and the Philadelphia roll. Amazing all around and the quality was superb. Quick, efficient service and really friendly staff.
I did a review of this sushi bar last year and I thought it was pretty good, and that more people should have gone there. Thankfully, they didn't, because management was switched, and for the better. As a restart, I got their Maki Combo which consists of Salmon, Tuna and California rolls for $8.50. Very good deal, and amazing food to compare. The value of each piece of sushi is off the charts. The California rolls weren't extremely mayo-y and the avocado was the perfect amount of ripeness, which I've never commented on because I never knew you could make avocado better by having a specific ripeness. The salmon was run-of-the-mill, which isn't a bad thing because salmon should taste good on average and if it doesn't, you're doing something wrong. The real surprise was the tuna. For anyone who knows me, I don't like the albacore tuna that's served at most sushi bars. It usually tastes like water or ice and it's not very appealing unless you want that kind of taste. Not only did this albacore taste fresh, but the server actually described (in detail) the preparation process for all of the albacore they buy, and you can ask them the same question if you'd like, but the way they process the fish actually helps lock in flavor and not give it frostbite. This has to be the best sushi pound for pound I've ever had, and I'm not surprised looking back. Also, I like the Comic Sans :P
