Nirvana Indian Cuisine - Vancouver

Excellent authentic food. Try the chicken biryanis. And tiger beer. Nice hosts. We come here all the way from North Van.

After a nice quiet X 'mas ,back to the crazy jungle , just finished meting in China town ,craving for curry ,,on the way home ,dropped in to the Nirvana restaurant for lunch ,it is a while since my last visit ,I still remember their delicious Chicken Tandoori , restaurant is family run ,been in business for a while ,,the decor is not the best , but clean , ,Covid 19 guidelines is okay , I choice their Lunch Special Curry Chicken Rice and the Tandoori Chicken , it is Northern Style Indian cruise ,well know for their Tandoori cuisine , happy to say excellent flavour , but little disappointed to say about their Lunch Special , Curry Chicken and Rice ' rice is so hard ,not fresh at all , I am in restaurant business over 50 years ,I know my RICE ! and the curry sauce is watered it down ,do not have that spiciest flavour , very sad to see , but I am understand the pandemics it is been really difficult for restaurants ,why cut back on the rice ? if I do come back ,I will never order their Lunch Special ! better off from the main menu less I am full and enjoyed the lovely Tandoori Chicken !

Craving something different from my usual fare, I opted for Nirvana on Main Street. Nirvana has been an institution on Main Street for aso g as I can remember. The dining room was very cozy. Service was quick and attentive. I opted for the non-veggie appetizer, which came with Fish, Prawn and Chicken Pakoras, served with mint and tamarind chutney. Quite good and mildly spiced. I also ordered the non-veggie combo, which included rice, naan, butter chicken and lamb curry. I also ordered a side of Raita yogurt cucumber dip . The lamb curry and butter chicken were delicious. For desert, I couldnt resist Gulab Jaman. Dishes are made to order and there are numerous options for vegetarians and vegans. Nirvana also does take-out. If your in the neighborhood, give Nirvana a try.

Indian restaurant located near Broadway on the west side of Main Street near Kingsway. We were disappointed with the level of service. Seemed to take forever to get their attention to take our order despite the fact there was only one other table occupied. Even after getting their attention there was another wait to take our orders. Had to request an item twice. Plus, one of our orders never did come to our table. The food itself was OK. The menu is pretty extensive and the portion size was OK. The poor service overshadowed everything else. Even getting the bill was a slow affair and there were no other tables occupied.

We had delivery from here last year and were dazzled at how good it was. Tried the restaurant for lunch last week. Chicken Rogan Josh and Tikka Masala were excellent. Spinach Paneer was bland. Simple restaurant in a convenient location. Very quiet at lunchtime. I would still come back, in spite of the bland paneer.
