Bidrage med feedbackConnie’s Cookhouse is. favorite place for Chinese food on Kitsilano’s 4th Ave. Regulars have long beaten a path to its door for its wide ranging Chinese fare, which includes other regions besides the more usual Cantonese only, often common in Vancouver’s Chinese food offerings. It has a liquor license and, while not extensive in its offerings, one can find a nice beer to help wash down those hotter dishes. It has long been offering pick up, delivery and has now streamlined online ordering to make its pickup and delivery more efficient. A nice addition for certain to this well customed Kitsilano restaurant’s repertoire. It says it is a friendly restaurant, which serves good and healthy food at good prices and it certainly delivers on that. A good spot to eat in the Chinese Lunar New Year this month. The food may be acceptable but the people are seriously messed up. When your deliver person mocks the recipient because they’re blind (legally, but can still see a jerk) and you leave them feeling like ****, you need to seriously check yourself. Plus you got the order wrong.
Connie’s Cookhouse became a quick favorite from the moment we discovered it on Kitsilano’s 4th Ave, just west of Arbutus and a few doors away from Lululemon. I generally was happy to be the family cook and most commonly had a meal prepared for our family of three most nights, but there were those times were time got away from us and we needed a tasty and nutritious take-out option. When that happened someone called out how about Connie’s, and the suggestion got immediate approval from the rest of the household. The dishes are mostly Cantonese cuisine. The portions are generous and the menu is extensive. It has a liquor license and is open for lunch and dinner. While it is a takeout hub it is also a good place for lunch and dinner as one is always welcomed and given good service. A good go-to, especially in these tumultuous times, where take-out is becoming the new norm. Posted by S Fuller
I've been a regular lunchtime customer at Connie's for several years. The cuisine and the decor are simple and non-pretentious. The lunch special includes either hot and sour or won-ton soup, rice and tea besides a variety of beef, chicken, pork and seafood dishes. My friend raved about their sweet and sour pork, whil the hot and sour soup is my own favourite.
We had dinner at Connie's cookhouse decided on from a quick web search and proximity to where we were staying in Kitsilano (4th Avenue, 2100 block). Totally unpretentious but also totally Chinese. For our first visit we both had the dinner for one combo allowing us to sample a range of dishes. The servings were large, the veggies were as they should be hot and crisp, cooked just enough to take the hard chew edge off. A clean and basic restaurant, well worth the visit.
