Bidrage med feedbackCafe Xu Hue is a small, hidden gem known for their specialty dish, bun bo hue. On weekends, there is always a line outside the restaurant. You can find it next to Ngon Banh Mi Tea. They are closed on Wednesdays and proudly display their Vancouver 2017 Restaurant award. I have visited a few times and the cozy interior only has 8 tables and 34 seats in total. The service is fast and the food is delivered promptly. As soon as you sit down, they bring you a cup of cold tea.
Café Xu Hue is a hidden gem that we have been enjoying for many years for their delicious Bún bò Hu, a spicy Vietnamese soup with rice vermicelli, pork, and beef. We were hesitant to share this secret spot, but its popularity among the Vietnamese community is well-known. The Bún bò Hu at Café Xu Hue is hearty and flavorful, with generous portions of pork hock, pigs blood, and beef. The soup is served with shredded banana blossom, chili pepper, and bean sprouts, giving it a unique twist compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. The restaurant is located on Kingsway near the new T&T Supermarket at Kensington Gardens in East Vancouver. It has limited seating, accepts cash only, and closes at 7 pm. Overall, Café Xu Hue is a must-try for anyone looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Limited but well executed selection. No frills just good food. Prices are a touch higher than comparable spots in the area but well worth it.
I particularly enjoyed the spicy Vietnamese vermicelli with sliced pork and beef in soup, the unique Vietnamese siu mai dumplings with soft and chewy skin, and the flavorful Vietnamese rice noodles with chicken in soup. The broth at this restaurant sets it apart from others in the market. Pricing is average for Vietnamese restaurants in the area, and the customer service is satisfactory for a small establishment. Parking is limited to street parking along Kingsway.
As you can tell... I've been to Xu Hue one too many times. One of my favourite pho restaurants... ever!<br/ <br/ The Bun Bo Hue is one of THE best in the city. The Chicken Pho is pretty dam good too... and if you want to make it even better: *TIP* ask for it with the broth from #5 (thank me later).<br/ <br/ The Vietnamese siu mai dumplings are pretty bomb also!
