The Cove - Vancouver

I really wanted to like this place. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately and offered a table in the bar. Great! Server was friendly and attentive for the most part. Ordered the grilled calamari which wasn't awful. The main dishea jumbo shrimp, scallops, and gnocchi as well as the burger were a huge disappointment though. The seafood dish was almost flavorless and the squash puree they had overpowered everything. Gnocchi was overcooked and scallops were slightly under done. Told the burger would come out medium, it was completely pink. Not a huge deal as my partner doesn't mind med rare to rare but wasn't what we were expecting. Everything was just kinda meh on the food front. What was most upsetting is when we paid, they have the portable devices. Server left it with us and we tipped well, and when we placed it down she walked by, picked it up, and didn't say anything. No goodbye or thank you. I was shocked and we were immediately put off. I think spending as much as we did, a thank you would have been nice. On our way out no one thanked us even though we walked by multiple employees. I definitely expected more on the food and service front. We may try it a second time, but not likely. Super bummed!

An exceptional experience. Great food, great drinks, great service. The service team worked together seamlessly. Our server ADAM was fantastic!. Freindly and attentive to details. Several of us had dietary restrictions that were managed brilliantly. We will request him the next time we come.

Despite being seated at what we considered the worst table in the row, everything else was fine. We were celebrating a family birthday, and unfortunately, our view was of the waiter's station. Perhaps because our English is not perfect, we felt undeserving of better seating. We had traversed Vancouver to savor the waterfront views and delicious food, not to gaze at the waiter's station. Additionally, the waitress seemed unfamiliar with the types and origins of whiskeys. This mixed experience leaves me hesitant to visit again.

I wanted an upscale meal for my birthday dinner. This place has all the great reviews and what should be a delicious menu. The location is great. The staff were fine. The problem is the food is bad. The seafood is rubbery. Some of our food was cold. The menu online doesn’t match what’s in the restaurant (items pricing). The excuse was that they hadn’t updated their website. In today’s world where quite literally everything is online, that should be a priority. Otherwise you’re falsely advertising. They did honor their online pricing for us but it sure felt like we were terrible people for bringing it up. Overall it was a waste of my time and money.
