Communal - Val-D'Illiez

Hotel with a very nice restaurant and beautiful views, everybidy's nice and helpful. Rooms are small but cosy. It's located near the train station, it's very convinient. You can eat a breakfast here. There is a bakery and tea shop next to the hotel, church, tourists office and a big parking. Inside there are stairs no lift, but there is a special lift for a wheelchair. I recommend going to the spa in Champery

Wir hatten einen Tisch für zwei Personen reserviert und kamen pünktlich an, nur um festzustellen, dass nur 2 Tische besetzt waren. Niemand begrüßte uns oder führte uns zu unserem Tisch. Also suchten wir uns einen netten Platz aus und warteten. Und warteten. Der Manager plauderte am Nachbartisch, bemerkte aber nicht unser Warten. Das Essen war jedoch gut. Zuerst gab es Dent de Lion mit Ei als Vorspeise, gefolgt von einem großen Filetsteak. Die Weinkarte war klein, aber gut, mit Preisen am oberen Ende dessen, was man erwarten würde. Als Nachtisch gab es eine Beerensuppe mit Milcheis, die sehr gut war, jedoch war der Baba au Rhum enttäuschend - trocken und mit wenig Rhum.

What a great evening! We arrived for the first time to the charming and very cosy restaurant, with tastefully chosen background music allowing a normal conversation, serving an absolutely fantastic menu, very good wines, discret, very friendly and attentif staff, that seemed happy to welcome us and to even help us out, if we missed the last train going towards Monthey in the evening. We look forward to enjoy the summer menu.The spring menu we had was made with local produces, I loved particularly enjoyed the 7peak beer (produced in Morgins) risotto with strawberries. Yes, yes, that's what I thought too: beer risotto with strawberries? Believe you me: It was DELICIOUS!!

We stayed at hotel communal for one night with my wife and daughter. The room was very spacious and perfectly suitable for a family. It even had a kitchen in it to warm up the foods for our daughter. The best thing was however the hotel restaurant. We have rarely opportunities to go to "fancy" restaurants and this one just at the ground floor of our hotel. The food is fantastic gourmet food and the wines are perfect. We enjoyed three-course menus and escaped back to the room before our daughter got bored. Perfect. The next day we went to the spa is only a few kilometers away, also very family friendly.
