NextDoor - Unionville

When my friends told me that they are going to “Next Door” to have brunch, I asked them to repeat, “What? What? What do you mean next door?”. Then, they told me Next Door is a restaurant. Interesting name. Next Door has just recently been opened and it’s located in the beautiful Main Street of Unionville, one of the popular spots for peeps to walk around, chill and enjoy a nice relaxing outdoor day. Today is a perfect day for us to grab brunch at Next Door and we decided to sit outside the patio overlooking the beautiful man made pond. If you opt to sit inside, you will see a tidy, modern, chic, bright decor. One side is the dining room and the other side has high stool chairs and tables next to the bar area. I felt very calm and relax walking into this space. It feels like you can enjoy a nice craft beer and delicious food in a downtown setting but you are actually situated in Unionville. To me, this is great! You can enjoy this dining experience without the need to drive all the way to downtown to feel such vibe. When the food items arrived at our table, we were impressed with its plate presentation. The French Toast, it’s totally unexpected, a popsicle with French Toast? I was impressed, it definitely open your mind. The restaurant boasts a warm and friendly staff, along with one-of-a-kind cocktails and delicious food. Our group enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the bar/lounge area. The cocktails, including the Caesar, were both unique and flavorful. We split three plates among two of us: the must-have fried Brussel sprouts, the light and fresh pappardelle pasta, and the surprisingly great combination of pork pancakes (with perfectly cooked pork). For dessert, we indulged in the sundae. We are looking forward to trying out the patio and Sunday brunch in the future.

Excellent food. Great atmosphere. A little loud but we didn't mind. Our waitress, Lara, was fantastic! She was friendly and helpful. The menu is not cookie cutter. It has some unusual features and she helped us navigate it and make the right choices for us. We had the mushroom gyoza not sure of the spelling pappardelle, deep fried Brussels sprouts I hate Brussels sprouts but these were great! I highly recommend this place. We are glad we chose to celebrate our anniversary at Next Door.

Finally, a decent restaurant on Main Street in Unionville. This establishment serves Western food with Asian influences, and I'm not talking about typical dishes like chicken wings with sweet and sour sauce. Chef Co has created innovative and delicious dishes. No need to endure the drive downtown and pay $20 for parking when we have such a good restaurant right next door (pardon the pun, I couldn't resist). My only suggestion is that the chef should hire more staff in the kitchen or take more time with each dish. The flavors are there, but with their current success, some dishes feel rushed. Despite this, it's definitely worth a visit.

I have really enjoyed my experience both times I have eaten at Next Door. I especially enjoyed Brunch yesterday, sitting outside on their gorgeous patio. I have been ambitious with my entree selections and have been extremely satisfied with their scrumptious dishes. Cocktails are a must try, as they are refreshing and delicious! Can't wait until my next visit!
