Bidrage med feedbackWe booked the tasting menu, expecting tasty, bold dishes. What we got was excellent service, a cozy venue and a hugely disappointing 12 course tasteless tasting menu. Presentation of dishes were excellent but the foods were bland, the meat dry and with flavourless purée as a side. Textures were gritty. I usually really enjoy tasting menus and booked this an a treat for our 5 year anniversary. No food allergies so the standard menu. Would warn others off the tasting menu. The a la carte may be better. Cocktails were excellent
Just a fabulous meal and experience, the best!! We loved everything about Myriel!!
Sacré bleu, y’all gotta get to Myriel in Highland Park. French Minnesotan with a really fun bar program sherries, apertifs, great wine. Amazing service!
Just go to Maison Margaux. You’ll have a better atmosphere, better service, and much better French food. Myriel’s cocktail menu is average and the wine list is overpriced $14-$17+ for glasses of wine). The kitchen is small, which is understandable, but my mom and I were the second pair in the restaurant that night and it took over an hour to receive entrees despite ordering every course at once following drinks. Most tables are for 2 and you will be very cramped, with staff awkwardly squeezing between parties throughout service. The duck fat potatoes, I believe $12, somehow lacked flavor but were at least a respectable portion. The salad should be doubled or taken off the menu. For $11 you get about 6 shreds of mixed greens, thankfully the lemon verbena dressing was delicious. The $30 duck breast was the smallest I’ve ever been served at a restaurant. It was also overcooked despite the waitress confirming it’s served “pretty medium rare.” The black garlic sauce served with the duck was outstanding. My mom ordered the $34 cassoulet which was substantial but very disappointing. Dry as a bone, beans hardly cooked through, and the confit duck thigh on top was underwhelming in size and preparation. Other dishes I saw served to different parties, like the beet salad and creamed cabbage, were likewise ridiculously small for their price. Myriel has some noteworthy elements by that I mean sauces and salad dressings), but cannot compete with other Twin Cities restaurants in the same price range.
After reading the article in the local paper today about 50 people who are changing the way we eat I had to post a comment. We have dined at Myriel four times. I will never go back. First three experiences were excellent. Had tasing menu with wine pairings. Expensive yes, but expected. Great service, food and ambiance. Fourth time was quite frankly, horrible. Tasting menu for four with wine pairings. Two of us are food adventurous, the other two not as much. $1,000 tab for dinner for four. Expected the cost and we can afford it. It took a very long time for someone to approach our table or even offer us a cocktail or mocktail once we were seated. Late summer dining so we expected lots of fresh dishes. Instead, lots of pickled items. For the two non-food adventurous, most of the dishes were not edible. For me and the other foodie, just not good. Server described one dish as swampy. Service was pretentious and acted like we were lucky to dine there. Tomlinson showed up to present her roast chicken from which we were given a small serving. She seemed to spend most of her evening in the bar with friends or fellow restauranteurs. Contacted the restaurant twice about our experience. Not asking for a gift card or comp meal. Just trying to let them know what we experienced.
