Bidrage med feedbackWe were on our way from Sydney to Ulladulla for the weekend and decided to stop at Marlin Bistro for a filling meal. We were pleased with our choice as the Pork dinner was delicious and plentiful. My wife particularly enjoyed the steak. While the hotel may have seen better days, the dining experience and service at the bistro were worth it.
What a strange experience! This restaurant is truly one of the most peculiar establishments I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. The hotel building itself was constructed in 1948 by Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Pitman in Ulladulla. It was the first hotel in New South Wales built after World War II, so one can understand their excitement at visiting such a historic landmark. However, upon entering, the sense of despair is palpable. Despite being a large, old building, the hotel lacks charm and hospitality. We tried to dine in the bistro, but the only available room with a view had only two tables and was apparently not open for dining. Instead, we were led to a dark, uninviting room at the back of the building, devoid of any character or ambiance. I cannot speak to the quality of the food, as we could not leave fast enough. What a disappointment.
A new chef in the marlin is fabulous. they can get them normal pub tariff but now they can also taste fantastic Moroccan food. wonderful!
It was a sunny winter day so that my wife and I visited ulladulla and stayed at the marlin hotel for lunch. After visiting the nearby fisherman 's wharf we thought to order a seafood dish, but we were told we were garnel. ten minutes ago. we saw from garnelen in the coolers on the wharf! how can a restaurant (ok it was a bistro) not be located 500m from the fisherman 's wharf run out of prawnen? I was trying to offer to run and get some and cook them again, but I thought better and ordered salt and pfeffern instead. my wife chose the flathead tails with salat and chips. total cost $38. both meal times were pleasant enough, but the escaping area is depressing. Paper tablecloths, old and decorated knives and forks and dirty frosted windows put the ton. Why they have 'd frost window when there is an ocean view is beyond me. we ate and went fast, but not before the use of the bathroom. both are disgusting. missing flowing, old toilets and urinals that smell as if they had not been properly cleaned in very long time. this location is simply wasted as it is a beautiful part of the south coast, but the marlin hotel is well past its best off-date. while the beer was freezing cold and pleasant, there are so many better eating options in ulladulla. we will not visit the marlin again.
Tried the new menu and it was the best meal we have had around the area. The flavours were perfect, generous portions, staff were lovely and prices were decent. If we lived around here this would be our local.
