Matterson House - Ucluelet

First thoughts were this doesn't look nice and its quiet; however inside iis quaint and charming. Not a 5* restaurant but as far as I am concerned a 5* service and 5* for food quality and taste.We were tended to by two local women; the menu has a reasonable range for such a small place. I had a beef burger, thinking it would be OK but it was one of the best I have ever had. All food served at the correct temperatures and all tasted great.As they became quite busy it took a while for the bill to turn up and when it did it was wrong - we were undercharged as as the table next to us. The kind lady re-issued the bills getting our neighbour's correct but we were still undercharged. Not saying this as a complaint but because of the charming way they presented and corrected the bill. it was right the third time and I paid my dues!

We wanted something light for dinner. Just soup and a salad. Loved the ambiance of the place and the salad was great. But the chowder tasted like it was straight from the can.

In one of the oldest buildings in Ucluelet, run by people very much part of the community (we saw them on a float at the town parade the next day!) this is a lovely place to have dinner.It is tiny (we were lucky to find a space!) so you might want to make a reservation - but it has a nice menu with a range of dishes which I am sure most would find something they fancy on!

Ironically this restaurant is next door to Norwoods (fine dining, 3x price, foodie heaven) but a completely different experience. Inside is warm, friendly, homely with good food (including gluten free). Definitely worth a visit in your time in Ucluelet.

We had an amazing dinner in matterson house! The restaurant is very cosy and all the people were so kind! The food was outstanding! If we come back to Ucluelet ever again, we will defenitely make a stop and have dinner at matterson house again!
