Urban Kitchen - Tuscaloosa

As a Tuscaloosa native Im a little embarrassed that it took me so long to visit here, and it was even recommended to us by our Scottish friends! The atmosphere was cool and a mix of modern and industrial. The music wasn't too loud and the prices were standard for a sit down restaurant.I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of collard greens. I've never had collard greens with so much flavor and not a hint of bitterness! The shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly, and the sauce for the grits was a perfect addition. The grits were soft, but not *too* soft. And my leftovers made a perfect lunch for the next day!While we were dining, one of the owners was sweeping and cleaning tables, while also making sure to visit every table to greet them.I have absolutely no complaints about this place, and I'll definitely be back!

This is one amazing place. Been many times and there is nothing on the menu I do not like. Quite a bit of variety to choose from and they nail every one of them. Favorites are the UBK pasta, Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, and Creole Surf and Turf. For an appetizer, try the bacon bombs. This place has never disappointed.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!! It’s the all the best you could have in a restaurant. Amazing food, good prices, good music, great servers, clean and beautiful environment…ALL OF IT!!!! The food is so so good and cheap compared to all other restaurants.You can get a meal for $14. Also this restaurant is black owned, which makes me want to support more!! I would 1000% recommend you come here!! My absolute favorite food place now.

It was an excellent experience all around. I recommend making reservations and getting on the list before arrival.

We tried the Cowboy burger, Salmon, Gumbo, Mac and Cheese, and Collards. While the food was good, it leaned towards being overly salty for our taste. The standout was the impeccable service – 100% spot on, and Ashley Ryan at the bar was exceptionally attentive, consistent, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was very pleasant. For this reason, we plan to return, opting for a lighter meal option next time.
