The sale of the course and resort is going to absolutely devastate the area. What a sad state of affairs for Tunkhannock and the small businesses around it. All for a community that will drain seniors of their income until they have nothing. The county should be purchasing it and making it a municipal course Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
The rooms can use an update, but they are very big and spacious. The view of the golf course is beautiful right in the mountains. The service has been wonderful. We had a problem with our toilet and plumbing came within 10 minutes of the phone call a decent breakfast cereal, bagels, juice, grits definitely a good stay for the bargain. What a secluded gem! I love Shadowbrook! My husband travels for work, and we had the privilege of staying here for a little over a week. From Sarah at the front desk to the legion of house and grounds keepers, EVERY human interaction was pleasant and helpful, and the place is kept clean and tidy. The weight room is dated but serves its purpose. The pool is clear, cool, and the cleanest I 've swam in, and it stays busy! The golf course is well maintained, and hubs loved golfing here. The Solarium is beautiful, and coffee is fresh alongside all kinds of tasties to eat in the morning. It isn 't a hot breakfast but quiets the grumbles. OH! Speaking of tummies; the on site Six West Restaurant has THE BEST turkey club sammie I 've ever eaten!!! Like, ever! I hate leaving this place. Shadowbrook is well loved and cared for, and it shows! Truly, a slice of heaven nestled amongst the hills of Tunkhannock, PA. Addendum: I read the reviews before leaving mine, and I 'll say this; Shadowbrook strikes me as the type of place where if you have a problem with something, you just need to open your mouth. Instead of feeling short changed somehow or appalled by the patina on the surface (it was built in the sixties, y 'all! , and leaving negative reviews, go to someone and politely state your grievance(s . I have a feeling you 'll be met with courtesy and a willingness to make it right! I DO have 2 suggestions... as an avid porch sitter, I think some type of roller blind or umbrella on the patios would be amazing. Our room faced southwest and from about 2:30 6:30, the sun would be absolutely roasting! Finally, the porch lights come on automatically, drawing up all sorts of critters at night. A manual switch would be awesome. Rooms: I was entirely impressed with the cleanliness of our room. We stayed in an older but spacious living area with very comfortable beds and squishy pillows! Always a bonus! Very quiet, too. Nearby activities: We hiked at the stunning Ricketts Glen State Park. Moderate hike, beautiful water... but you can 't get in?!?? BRING BUGSPRAY!! Safety: I felt very safe here! Walkability: This place is wonderfully secluded! You will need a vehicle if you wish to explore.
