We made a special stop in Athlone to visit Murphy's Law during our May trip to Ireland. We learned about this place after seeing it and a food challenge it hosted highlighted on a YouTube video. My son, who was going to celebrate his eleventh birthday while we were traveling, requested Murphy's Law as his birthday meal. While we were a bit disappointed to learn the food challenges were discontinued in 2019, we proceeded to order their regular burgers. As one who prefers her meat rare, I was skeptical to learn the burger could only be offered well-done. However, I was wowed by the flavor and tenderness of the burger I received. My husband and I both could not believe we were eating the tastiest burger we've ever had ... in Ireland! Service was a bit slow, but we enjoyed our time and every morsel of food.
Arrived for lunch and we were told by a waitress to wait down the back and she would help us find a table, we were then met by a rude waiter who told us it was full and had to eat outside. We then waited 15 minutes before getting menus and a further 25 minutes before ordering our food. There was no apology for the wait. We also had a ridiculous wait of 20 minutes for two cocktails. The staff seemed very uninterested in doing their actual job. The table beside us even had to go in and get their own menus. The overall experience was terrible as a quick bite to eat with friends turned into a dragged out meal.
Arrived here with family on a day out shopping , no covid cert checking , no signing in , no hello from staff just 4 of them looking at us … asked could we take a table pointed to a table … the young waitress who took our order was like a deer in headlights had little Knowledge of the menu … no check back throughout or meal … no chat s from staff only amongest themselves … huffing and puffing and wandering around the place wasn’t busy . Owning a restaurant my self I no how important it is to engage with customers, make them feel their wanted and comfortable .. We won’t be goin back there
Arrived here on our staycation for some lunch on Monday 25th of October. There was a particular staff member who made our experience very unenjoyable, she was very angry and vocal, slamming dishes, smashing glass and giving out the entire duration of our meal. She had no mask on at all while we were there and we were not asked for contact details or covid certs. We were sitting across from the bar and could very clearly here her saying that she was sick of this place and sick of her co workers who had no experience. These 'inexperienced ' co workers were doing a great job btw! Much better then her. While we were having our lunch atleast 4 different parties came through the door looking for lunch and she turned all of them away even though there were available tables. She told two girls that there would be a wait on food to which they replied that 's ok and how long would it be , she told them 30 minutes (even though we received our food in 10) and when they said that was ok she told them if they were in any rush they should not sit down. So they turned around and left. If I was the owner of this place I would not have been happy.
