Wagon Train Coffee Shop - Truckee

Everything you are looking for in the classic breakfast joint. Good, funny staff. Fast filling of coffee cups. Delicious breakfast clips. The cookies and sweet sauce are a unique product that I would highly recommend!

This is the quintessential American Café complete with country music, railway decoration and the old West presence is missing from "yuppified" Truckee. I remember growing up here with my dad and it was still as inviting as it was at that time. The French dip sandwich was huge on home made bread. The service was warm as if I were regular every morning. While I was sitting at the counter in the morning, I was transported to these visits with my dad. Big breakfast before a ski day in the peaks of Sierra Nevada. Millennial's caution! This café is an unapologetic old school American.... And I love it! I'm sure everyone is welcome, but love it for what it is. Avoid the overpriced yuppie, vegan, Californian cuisine and keep it simple, but great!

3 of us had breakfast and the food and service was amazing. I had the bagel sandwich with ham and it was delicious. I have to meet the owners on the way out. So nice people. Thanks for having such a great restaurant for us to experience. I wish there were more restaurants like this.

I came early to make sure that I had parking and guess what, breakfast is 50% from 530 to 730. Very friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious.

Outstanding diner food. Owner makes EVERYTHING from scratch. Expect it to be busy during peak tourist times but staff somehow get it done. Line cook is FAST. You almost get your food before you order!! Keep an eye out for fresh bakery items. Get a pie while you can because it will be gone later! An added bonus, giving the the Good Citizen award if there was one- they support the local community and will stay open off hours for only the kids when they get out of school. Did I mention their food is outstanding?!!
