Bidrage med feedbackIt's my to-go-to place for Chinese now. My taste is for Almond Boneless Chicken. Dinner includes 3 breast pieces, chicken fried rice and egg roll and gravy for around 11.00.
When I moved to Troy, I tried just about every Chinese restaurant in search of one as good as what I grew up with. Hong Kong Express ended up being even better than my hometown favorite! The almond boneless chicken is always hot and crispy. The fried rice is the perfect texture and flavor. The lo mein (eapecially roast pork) soooo flavorful. The crab Rangoon is crispy and STUFFED with filling. They don't skimp on their egg drop soup either, always the perfect ratio of broth to eggs. Their egg rolls and spring rolls are generously sized and so flavorful you don't even need the sauce. Everything is great here, but those are my favorites. The portions are HUGE for the price too. For $3] you could feed two very hungry people for days! (I say that from personal experience lol). The people who work there are always so friendly too! I'll be so sad if I ever move again and have to find a spot to even come close to Hong Kong Express!
I've tried at least 7 other Chinese restaurants in the area this is my favorite. They have the nice big egg rolls not the small ones. Good portions as well.
Tried them for the first time today on the recommendation of Kim’s Chinese restaurant owner after they closed their own doors. Hesitant at first I settled on shrimp fried rice, dumplings and sesame chicken. The food was delicious and cooked to my liking. The shrimp fried rice is great with large pieces of shrimp and flavored rice. No peas in the rice in case you were wondering. The dumpling come in both fries and steamed, I tried both versions and tasted great, especially with the little spicy sauce that comes with it. Like a few other reviews it’s one of those places that after eating a plate you’ll feel full and disgusted with yourself and then be hungry again at midnight. Tbh, that’s the way I like my Chinese. The staff was nice and were partaking in social distancing measures. I look forward to trying more off the menu and will start making this a regular staple. Yes the place looks a bit outdated but seriously if your really worried about the aesthetics of a place and not the food, find yourself the frozen food aisle at the grocery store and get your innovasian on. I mean c’mon, m’kay? Oh and the fortune cookies were nice and crunchy, not stale.
My favorite place for Chinese food. The egg rolls are huge. The Kung pao is amazing. Love their hot n sour soup.
