Mamma Mia - TROPEA

We happened upon this establishment, the menu looked great so we sat down. Friendly service, great food, reasonably priced. Loved the local wines.

Ate here last night on our first day in Tropea for this trip our 4th time overall. We were tired after a long day of travelling and wanted something cheap and cheerful. This restaurant has a nice outdoor setting but so would say the overall standard of food was only average by Tropea standards. My wife had a nice pasta dish of the house but my Tuna steak wasn't great. Didn't taste very fresh and was covered in sauce to hide this fact. Prices overall were good and the staff were friendly. First time here and not sure I'll be back.

Our first night in Tropea and this little tucked away restaurant looked nice and the menu read brilliantly. Sadly it didn't live up to it! I ordered a vegetarian pasta which was tasty. My husband ordered sword fish cooked in capers, garlic and some other amazing things, what he received was a piece of overcooked sword fish, no sauce as stated. Just a piece of fish on the plate. Fortunately we ordered a mixed salad and he was able to add some olive oil to liven it up a little. When he questioned the waiter he shrugged his shoulders and suddenly couldn't understand English. I think Sophia Loren would be disappointed having her picture branded all over this restaurant, she loves food and would expect so much more....

There is so many restaurants in Tropea it is very difficult to choose one. We basically chose this by the catchy name and it ended up being a very nice meal with a beer.It was very quiet but the service was good and the food was great1

When you want to eat meat cooked as a shoe sole, or black mussles as from the freezer .. .then mamma mia should just be your choice. Very nice waiter, but horrible food !!!! Only a Pizza in Rome could top this one.
