Bidrage med feedbackFinding vegan breakfast in Trieste can be surprisingly hard (on our first morning I gave up and had a banana). On the second day we found this place thanks to the Happy Cow app. It is a little hard to find (inside an indoor shopping gallery) but worth looking for. There would have been a breakfast offer (coffee and something sweet) but opting for salty, we had very tasty vegan focaccia with tomatoes and olives for breakfast and decided to buy more focaccia for me and a vegetarian sandwich for my husband for a train ride and a piece of gorgeous Sacher cake a real feast (my cake consumption dwindled when diagnosed with a milk protein allergy). This place is not cheap but definitely worth the money, and the service is very friendly. If I return to Trieste (which I sure hope I will), I'l be sure to go back.
I 've rarely experienced a staff that so obviously hates the people they are serving. From the second we walked through the door we felt very unwelcome. We approached the bar, and the bartender said What do you want? We said, We would like to have dinner , and she just shrugged, as if to say Not my job . Later, we were ignored as the staff had conversations with their visiting friends. So many of the restaurants in Trieste have such excellent service. Avoid this place, even if you are a vegetarian. The food was good, but not worth the terrible service.
There are several historical cafe in town... why don't try them all. Look at the wook works inside. Avoid the place during office time as the employees of the sorrounding public offices seems to enjoy it (too) much
On a hot day, it can be a shelter from the sun , in a very nice cool gallery. Waiters are maybe a bit too lax, bun polite. We enjoyed our food very much, there is not a big range of dishes, but I wish I could order them all, they looked yummie! Got two fresh fruit juices to end our meal, and they were simply delicious. Not expensive either. You should defo try the Eggs. It's a dish with 5-cereal focaccia and an oven baked omelette. It is super good.
During the Republic day we came here to enjoy the concert and chose a table at about 6pm. After we already ordered, a waitress(rather rude) brought a sign reserved and just put on our table without saying a word. I tried speaking to her no english, so i had to wait for her to speak to my husband. She said our table was reserved for someone else but we could stay. Then at 7 the guy who reserved the table and looks like he is a manager tried to kick us out saying the tables are reserved because he wanted the space for himself. We stayed of course but this experience ruined it and we will never return. Next time, let people know in advance if they can stay and also be nice. Btw, food is very average. There are other much better cafes in the area. Tip: go elsewhere
