Bidrage med feedbackThe meal was plentiful in terms of quantity and the staff was trying to ensure that we had the opportunity to choose from the English menu. The food tasted good, but perhaps not the standard of an Indian meal in the UK. The costs were...appropriate and the service could not be failed. Great to sit outside and very well visited by locals.
We lived in Geneva for several years and never found a decent Indo Paki restaurant that could compare with a good London restaurant. We even coined a word when we lived there... the oriental foods were sworn to match the local palate. But here... in Aix les Bain, about 80 km from where we are now living in France, we are really happy to have discovered a wonderful Indo Paki restaurant that offers not only great food, but also magnificent views of the lake and the mountains. I chose Kofta Curry (Rindfleischbälle) which I had eaten 40 years ago in Glasgow and more... but rarely found in London and never in Geneva or its surroundings. All appetizers and accompaniments were just as delicious our group of four is the best Indo Paki meal we eat outside the UK in this region, including Geneva. Very recommended ... and very cheap (at noon). And they had Indian Kingfisher beer.
Good place, good food. It also has some vegetarian food. One of the best Nans and Pakoras. But must improve the music!
We ate here recently in our constant search for a decent Indian restaurant in France. It's not huge, so you might have to book. The food was pretty good. The only things that left it down were not an Indian beer in stock, the poppadome... had come soggy and not with any Chutney, so eating soggy poppadome on their own was quite hard work! We also had to ask the Naanbrot to come out with the main meal, because in France they seem to have this thing when they serve it with the starter. The actual curry was actually quite delicious when a little salty as most curries are! I had a ktikka for the starter who was great, but a bit more tandoored to get more taste. The onion bhaji was very bizarre in that it came out on a large plate and was just like shrunk onion, unlike shaped bhajis you expect. Everything's pretty good and would go back. I agree with a previous comment that they would have to recharge their game if they compete on high street, but it was busy, and for a Tuesday night says a lot. Howevet the Uk do rule when it comes to Indian restaurants and France a long way to get them anywhere near our standard.
Never mind the cutting reviews by English reviewers who try to model Indian food on their local Curry House! The Taj Mahal offered us a delightfully delicious and inexpensive lunch with their 26 euro menu. First 5 different entrees and both whole wheat and cheese...nan bread, followed by 3 kinds of different kinds of curries: shrimp, beef and lamb served with savory basmati rice. Dessert was a very nice presentation of 3 different offerings and whipped cream. Carafe wine was good quality and 7.50 for a large size, Service was also good: attentive and unobtrusive. Nice lake view from the terrace. Very enjoyable all around! Authenticity test proven by 4 tables with Indian diners!
