Rifugio Cereda - Transacqua

We went to this restaurant by accident (literally: there was a car accident down the road and we could not reach our booked restaurant destination, so we stopped here waiting for the road to re-open). It was a pleasant experience, with dishes from the local tradition that were simple, tasty and nicely presented. I particularly enjoyed a prosciutto di cervo (roe-deer ham). I really appreciated the service staff: they were under a lot of pressure (this seems a very popular place on a weekend) and were working really hard, but they always came with politeness and a smile. Clearly also well-organised.

We walked the entire AV2 from Bressanone to Feltre and stayed in numerous Refugios/Hotels/hostels. Refugio Cereda was definitely not the highlight. Service was tardy, rooms were average. Okay to stay overnight and walk on the next day, but don’t even think about a second night. The place really needs a renovation as otherwise it will not survive as there is competition emerging.

Just as a benchmark for this review...we stayed in over 2 dozen different hotels and rifs on a long tour that included the whole of the Alta Via 2. This place charged more than it cost per head to eat and stay overnight in a multi starred hotel next to the Rhine in Cologne Central. The hotel room was small and tired, the shower was very small.The food was half pension quality at best ..maybe ..if you like stale bread. The menus sheets were dirty and the staff tired or uncaring... Some fellow walkers went to the rif next door after not receiving assistance....much better and cheaper by their accounts. your call.

Siamo stati per pranzo e siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti dei piatti deliziosi e del personale attento. Consigliato. Torneremo di sicuro.
