Bidrage med feedbackRecently visited with some friends for the first time and we all had a great meal. As a coeliac it’s difficult to guarantee getting a good gluten free meal and not feel like you’re missing out on all the best dishes but I did certainly not miss out on the mezze. We pre-ordered the mezze 24 hours prior to the visit, mom which 3 people did not require a gluten free option. The majority of the meal was naturally gluten free but I was given gluten free pitta bread to go with the dips, the fried foods on the starter tray were cooked in a separate fryer and the main came on a separate dish, having substituted some rice dish with chips and meatballs for some vegetarian option to ensure it was gluten free. Great food and excellent for gluten free. Will visit again!
Very delicious food, friendly staff. We love how they cook Moussaka and beef stifado. In general the food in Socrates restaurant is one of the best in town. We also liked yoghurt cheesecake.
We visited on a Friday night, for years we had been saying we should go and never went. We decided our wedding anniversary would be a good opportunity to do so and it did not disappoint. We had halloumi and feta for starters both delicious and the Kleftiko and Stifado for mains. Both were stunning, the Kleftiko especially. I am not keen on lamb but had a taste of my husbands and it was delicious. We also had a bottle of wine, it was all very reasonably priced for what we got. The atmosphere was lovely, nice ambiance, not noisy plenty of people in there enjoying their meals. The staff were lovely and the restaurant itself has a typical Greek taverna charm about it. Can’t believe we left it so long to visit, but we most certainly will be back again. Thank you for a wonderful anniversary meal.
Having been a happy semi regular visitor to this restaurant going back 5 years or so, I decided to visit again recently. The food was still reasonable for the price. Service OK. Served by a young girl with a crop top (which seemed a little unsuitable attire for a waitress), but she was helpful enough. But what really let the place down was its shabby, unloved appearance. The toilets are in the basement. The whole basement area smelt of damp. The carpet had seen better days and the yellow warning strips where there were steps had all but worn away. The ladies at least can't comment on the gents were scruffy and also smelt of damp. In one of the cubicles there was a pile of about 6 wall tiles that had fallen off and were on the floor by the cubicle door. I mean what does it take to pick them up?? There was black mold behind the sink as well. If I had my camera on me when I visited the loo, I would have taken photos and posted them on here to be honest ! The whole place needs money spent on it!
From the minute we stepped in we felt uncomfortable it was like the gentleman didn’t want our custom! We ordered our food the koftas were dry and the rice was greasy I left most of mine . But the most concerning issue was the cleanliness of the restaurant the cobwebs are all over the lampshades , the walls were filthy and the toilets are absolutely disgusting the whole place needs a deep clean . It’s a shame because we used to go quite frequently but never again !
