Bidrage med feedbackJust back from our third visit to this amazing pub. We’ve stayed in several fantastic hotels and pubs in the area over the years. But the Castle has become a firm favourite. Just on the edge of the moor, it’s a good base for walking. The pub itself it cozy and welcoming with friendly and attentive bar staff. As always the food was fantastic. Portion sizes were good and it’s great value for money. The venison was delicious and my wife’s fish was huge and perfectly cooked. All the waiting staff are lovely and the service is great. The rooms over the road have been recently renovated and are really comfortable. So much so, that after our last stay we ordered the same bed once we got home. Looking forward to our next stay and a pint of Devon Red in the beer garden.
We visited The Castle Inn during August after a Trip to Lydford Gorge. We had spotted the pub earlier when out cycling and had stopped off on that occasion for a couple of beers. On this occasion despite dropping in before the restaurant opened the staff were more than happy to speak with us and found us a table, gave advice re parking and found colourings for our children, The staff were great, efficient and attentive without faffing and mithering. The service was smart and timely without feeling rushed and too fast. The menu was quite small something I always think is a good thing, you know what's on the menu has to be good... And it was. Even the kids food wasn't the usual el-cheapo pasta and 50p mini pizza. No it wasnt the cheapest, but it is very good.
We had a fantastic and unexpected experience at Castle Inn. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The meals for both dinner and breakfast were top-notch, with excellent menu options. The room was both clean and beautifully decorated. Ben, in particular, provided exceptional service. He was not only very friendly, but also very knowledgeable. Ben truly exceeded our expectations and is a great asset to your establishment.
We were lucky to find a fantastic pub/restaurant just a mile away from our holiday accommodation. The food, wine, and beer were excellent. The staff was delightful and friendly. The interior was beautiful and comfortable. And best of all, they were open all day. It was perfect.
The restaurant is located in a charming old building next to a castle, but I don't think it's worth the £120 price. The staff were not very friendly. The food was delicious, but pricey. The small double room we stayed in was dog-friendly, but the bed was very uncomfortable. The travel gift for the dog was a nice touch.
