Bidrage med feedbackIt is unfortunate that at such a wonderful resort, the food was such a let down. Go eat meals at their sister hotels/restaurants instead, they are much better, and priced better as well. Hope they step the food up here, because everything else is fantastic.
We ate at the restaurant during July whilst staying at the hotel. You definitely need to book as they stagger serving to ensure the kitchen can manage with the volume of people. 3 tables per 30 minutes we were told. The restaurant is obviously trying hard to fit into the spirit of the hotel being a natural themed hotel. But the restaurant really needs to focus on the quality and taste of the food it is serving. We felt quite rushed in having to place our order, the waitress was keen that we get a move on. Once placed we were presented with an edible small bunch of flowers and herbs with some peanut butter inside. It looked nice, but had no flavour or substance to it. It was just like eating some tasteless green foliage. Definitely a gimmick for looks over taste that needs addressing. We shared a starter of the Azores Cheese and traditional bread, which was simple but delicious. The main courses were unfortunately not great. We had Octopus with olive oil, garlic and potatoes. The dish was swimming in olive oil which dominated the dish. The pork neck with asparagus and orange just didn't work. The orange was quite sour in combination with the asparagus and pork neck. Both the Octopus and Pork were cooked very well, but the dishes just weren't executed well. The wine chesen by the knowledgeable sommelier/waiter was excellent and good value.
How to treat Portuguese customers badly... I went to the restaurant to find out if it would be possible to reserve a dinner for 9 people. Here began a surreal reaction: 1. The first person opens the book and says she will try to confirm with the restaurant. 2. After 10m, I was still waiting for them to confirm if it would be possible 3. The Chefe did not know if it would be possible, once we were 9 people what a dificult task for a restaurant, provide a meal to 9 persons! 4. Once the Chefe could not provide a decision they had to confirm with the person in charge, who, by coincidence, was in a meeting 5. I decide to have a coffee 6. After 30m waiting, there was still no answer and the perception was clear, in the sense that they were buying time for us to withdraw from the request Let me resume: they spent 30 minutes inventing excuses for not giving an answer. Clearly, with a haughty and arrogant air, a simple restaurant, claiming that a table of 9 people would cause a big change in the restaurant's service. How is it possible? There was a clear discriminatory attitude either because we are Portuguese customers and beacause we were 9 people. In fact, the first note of this arrogance and discrimination was given when they communicated that children under 16y cannot dine in this restaurant. I will identify this space as a space not to visit. The arrogance and discriminatory attitude manifested by this space generate my present evaluation.
We were a couple and loved the atmosphere, the service and the food. also, being a vegetarian, it was great to see they have a menu just for that option
Really special treatment. They might not get everything perfect, but the cook seems to be taking some risks to make things interesting. Therefore, 5 stars you guys deserve it. Also, kudos for the creative vegetarian options. (The recommended wine turned out to not be very good the one with the exaggerated marketing with the guy bulling a rock with a rope around the label. Probably dump that one.
