The Bay Tree Cafe - Torbay

I stopped in for breakfast on my own. The food was ok, nothing particularly good, but vfm. The service and ambience was very poor though. The cafe was very cold (most customers kept their overcoats on) and less than half full. Nevertheless, I waited a surprisingly long time to even give my order, waited a bit longer than normal for it to come, and when it came it wasn't quite what I ordered. I wasn't going to send it back and wait even longer though! What was most surprising was that, while I was sitting there, four customers turned up. The waitress surveyed the less than half full café, then told them that they couldn't come in and would have to come back in 15 minutes. Two of the four would-be customers waited outside in the drizzle, while the other two went to the shops. After ten minutes, during which time no-one else entered or left the café, she opened the door and told them they could come in. What was that about? It's all a bit League of Gentlemen!

I’ve missed my trips to this little gem. If anything it has got even better. Lovely food, beautifully clean, warm and ever so friendly

Lovely food as always. Friendly staff. Polite as always, highly reccomened if your looking for a cafe foe good food then look no further than the bay tree cafe. There food is lush, good quilty and value for price.

The owner was friendly and took the time to explain how all the produce used was locally sourced. I had a fantastic omelette, fresh and tasty. Thanks for breakfast.
