Bidrage med feedbackI typically avoid eating at hotel restaurants because I worry that there might be better options elsewhere. However, today we couldn't find a better alternative nearby, so we decided to give 1909 a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and the incredible view of the harbor. Our server was also excellent. I was delighted to be proven wrong. I highly recommend sampling the veggie breakfast sandwich - it's amazing!
The fire-roasted pizza at this restaurant is amazing. The thin crust is reminiscent of Neapolitan pizza. Our group of 6 all enjoyed the seafood dishes, especially the spicy options. A new chef and sous chef from the Fairmont Banff joined in May and have added some fantastic new choices to the menu with impeccable presentation. We had a full meal with appetizers, dessert, and wine. Despite the restaurant being busy, our server Mackenzie was exceptional. Overall, our dining experience on June 7, 2022 was fantastic.
I went to this restaurant with some questions about gluten-free options, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only does the manager have celiac disease, but they are also accommodating to gluten-free needs. I ordered seafood on ice and a local wild salmon fillet, and felt great afterwards. The servers were fantastic and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this place. Although nothing is marked on the menu, the kitchen seems confident in making modifications to cater to those with celiac disease. They offer gluten-free chicken wings, but they are fried with all the other items, so they may not be celiac friendly. However, they are a good option for those who are gluten intolerant. Additionally, the cocktails are fantastic.
I have had many great experiences at this place over the years and would love to give it a good review. However, in the past couple of years, it has been closed during the storm watching season without notice. My favorite time to visit was for a late lunch in the mid-afternoon, watching the tide change or other water activities from the pub. The pub and restaurant had excellent food, stayed open during power outages, and had great staff. Unfortunately, things have changed now. It seems there is no longer a pub, ownership has changed frequently, and there is no restaurant service in the afternoons. It appears they are not focused on customer service. I would recommend looking at alternatives instead.
We were extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We were on our honeymoon and were told to give it a try, but the service was lacking and impersonal. We were not asked if we had a reservation, and the quality check only came at the end of our meal. The Duck Benedict was disappointing - the eggs were overcooked, the duck was dry, and the hollandaise sauce was bland and watery. The only good flavor came from the potatoes. The skillet wasn't hot, but the cornbread was the one highlight. Overall, our breakfast meal was not worth the price range of $20-$30 per person.
