There are no good chippys in Devon so we went to Cornwall. I walked in, and asked how good the chips were... The man simply shovelled a few chips out of the frier for me to try one... Sign of a proper chippy! Chips scored a 9/10! The American in our group (who ordered the cod chips) rated the cod 10/10, and the chips 8/10. Sadly there were no saveloys, and I swiped the last beef onion pie. We 'ate in ', having spent our day roaming the hills. Pasty shops were bypassed, to my delight. There are 2 compact tables, each seats 4 people. Large car park right across the road. No toilet facilities, but it 's a chippy. Open later than the English Heritage site. Not the cheapest chippy, but have eaten far far worse having paid more. I will definitely eat there again when I next visit Tintagel! Thanks for the nice grub! Apologies for the lack of dish pics. Was a quick food stop, and the review was a later thought (having enjoyed the meal so).
The restaurant was incredibly busy with large crowds, but the team handled it effortlessly, and we didn’t have to wait long for our meal. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. We also took a moment to admire the wall as the sun set.
The meals were freshly prepared to order, with beautiful portions. My son really enjoyed the food after our walk around the castle today. Thank you!
As mentioned, I had the big fish special: two large cod and chips for £20 and a few pennies. The fish was beautifully cooked—large portions—and the chips were fresh rather than frozen, making them very tasty. There wasn't too much oil, which I appreciated, and I would definitely be happy to visit again. The restaurant also had good COVID restrictions in place, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant.
