The Bell In Ticehurst

Stopped here with Sunday lunch after a local walk. It was my first time visiting and I can’t tell you one thing that was disappointing. The staff were fantastic. Friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere reminds you of how wonderful English pubs are and the food was outstanding. I had the roast pork and it was delicious. I can’t wait to return to try the other dishes. Wonderful and cosy pub. Unappealing menu and disgusting food Food drinks: Nothing appealing on the menu. Not sure who it’s aimed at? Seems to be basic fare, which is fine, but it was disgusting. Burger had sugar in it. Too sweet. The only veg were caramelised. Soggy batter on the fish. Please change menu : Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

We attended a wedding and reception at the Bell, an old pub with a quirky makeover. The car park was small but a small public carpark was over the road. The food at the reception was faultless starting with interesting canape, a large selection of well prepared starters. Main course of Toast beef husband siad was tasty and succulent), salmon, lots of veg and choice of potatoes. , can't remember what the vegetarian or vegan choice was) desert was voice of apple crumble, pineapple bread pudding, chocolate brownie. We were too up to have a piece of wedding cake.,

From the moment we walked in, everything about the Bell was apparently just right. A busy bar with good ale. Dog friendly throughout with a wonderful letter personalised to our dog by name and including poo bags, toys and treats. The staff are all charming and the location in the centre of the village is perfect. Evening menu was limited, but the food was excellent and breakfast was equally good. The whole place is very quirky and doesn 't take itself too seriously. The dining room ceiling is apparently held up by a column of books, we had a tree and a barbers chair in our room! Overall a great find and I can see why it has won awards 'apparently '!
