La Diligence - Thouars

Since the move to France over 20 years ago, we used the Leclerc shopping centre for some of our general shopping facilities, and we used this cafe all this time. It is great to pack either a sandwich/salad and a sticky cake before shopping, washed out with a drink from the bar. It is also very pleasant to grab a chair and park your shopping trolley after a Saturday afternoon fight for the food wine and then have a beautiful cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Staff are always very attentive and bring your drinks into a flash. If you want vacation in the area and just a quick bite and buy, you can make much worse. I strongly recommend this cafe/snack bar

La Diligence is a Boulangerie/Pattisserie, located next to a bar directly opposite the checkout at the LeClerc Supermarket in Thouars. The coffee here is excellent and the freshly made half bags are to die. I always have a Jambon Fromage Crudites, half a... Baguette filled with ham, cheese tomatoes and salad and the girls know that my wife is allergic to tomatoes and immediately rust the same with egg substituted for the tomatoes. 2 people can have a good lunch here for approx. 10 euros and I can guarantee that you will be back for another baguette at any time.

La Diligence is a Boulangerie Pattisserie in the entrance hall to the Leclerc supermarket in Thouars. The same business also leads the bar and coffee shop so that you go and buy your baguettes and then order your coffee at the table in the adjacent cafe. The half baguettes are split and fed before being filled with large ham, cheese and tomatoes, plus the obligatory piece of salad and mayonaise. The bread is fresh and crisp and around everything the Grand Cream Coffees are top class too. You have made it in France when you are the young lady who approaches the kitchen manning, and she knows that you want another without tomatoes to allow for the allergy of your wife to tomatoes. After a trip around the supermarket, this simple lunch really makes my day!

The place is ideal for picking up coffee after pushing your trolley around the supermarket, Being english I... Normally go for a grand cream coffee and the coffee here is very good and served at your table. If you want a snack, order this from the neighbouring Pattisserie. My favourite is a half-buttered baguette filled with jam, fromage and chalk in English ham cheese salad tomatoes and mayonnaise. The bread is freshly baked on site and beautifully crusty and the filling of a delicious mix of flavors moistened by tomatoes and Mayo. The place is very busy around lunchtime: the French programmed to eat only at certain times of the day, and so it is a good idea to avoid this busy time. Food and drink are cheap and I love to visit La Diligence at least once a week when I'm in the area.
