The Thomas Paine Thetford.

By far the best hotel in Thetford town. The Thomas Paine museum was a very pleasant surprise, and the food is splendid. Well worth a visit.

Chilterns had a great evening last night at the Thomas Paine hotel. Lovely informal setting and great hospitality from Gez and his team. Food was excellent, promptly served, very organised and HOT! Just went to the restaurant for a Sunday Lunch after a long time. I was delighted that the food and service was still impeccable. Thank you so much for re-arranging the furniture, so I had a warm spot. The food was delicious, as always. A very special thank you to the staff and proprietors for making us so welcome. Can't comment on the rooms because I did not stay overnight, but I knew plenty of guests there who had no complaints.I attended this venue for a wedding and it was very warm and welcoming. The owner was a fantastic host and helpful team member getting stuck into helping his staff behind the bar. He said a few lovely words about the bridge and groom and generally kept an eye on the rest of the guests to make sure everyone was having a good time.The food served was buffet style, but I know they have a very delicious and exotic menu when open for business as normal. The desserts for the wedding though, were top notch! And I'm sure this is food that came from their hotel menu.The building itself is very charming. A historic element has been kept which gives it a cosy feel. It has been sectioned well restaurant area, bar area and venue area, but it all flows into one. Very good design. I know there is an extension being worked on at the moment, so I cannot wait to see what addition will become part of the hotel. It is already superb, but I'm sure this add on will only increase its stellar reputation.Thank you to the owner, staff and chefs for a wonderful evening. I will certainly be back to try some of your lovely, mouth watering hotel menu.
