Bidrage med feedbackCame here with five friends at 22:30. The service was timely and friendly, the meals were great. Remember that Faro de la Baja is above all a seafood house, and they know what they do in the kitchen! There was a line to get in, but that went smoothly with a clipboard and list. We waited between 15 and 20 minutes. It was worth it. Our meals were selected with some of us from the menu, some of us from the “Specials Board”. From the specials, two volcanoes served primarily octopus and pineapple on a grill via a lava rock shell with extremely hot rocks in it. I had an assortment of shrimp and octopus in a chipotle sauce served in a bread bowl. The other three friends had (I believe) different plates of shrimp flours. In front of the gates were fresh hot butter bread and the domestic fish soup, which is in taste above the top. Yes it must have!!! The drinks were two beers, Jamaica, coke and water. The bill for six large meals was only US$68. An update! Last Friday, 29 March 2019. came to Tecate with my neighbors. Three other great meals. The neighbors were ecstatic with the place and meals. Three meals, a bottle of wine, $52! Hector is the quintessential host. You have to go here!!!
I've been trying to come here for a few years and I've done this, I'm impressed! The ambience is great, the waiter is great, the owners are great, helpful and friendly. And the food, superlative! I decided to go to Tecate... from La Mesa, CA for lunch, and had a buddy come. Since we are both really challenged Spanish, we fought with the menu as a woman sitting at a nearby table went to our table and asked if we need help. We did it anyway and offered her a chair so that we could go over the menu. As it turned out, she was the wife of the boss/owner of the restaurant. Pat wanted something with shrimps, she made a proposal, and he was completely satisfied. I chose something with a fillet of fish, and I was also completely satisfied. To meals! My friend had a beer and I had the Jamaican potion. Shortly after ordering the drinks we both had the fish meatball soup. Unbelievable, a spiced, spiced broth with squids, some shrimps and these meatballs. Phenomena! The next course was a salad of Romaine, spring green, olives, blueberries, strawberry with what tasted like a basalmic dressing. The ducks came out, nothing less than perfection! During the meal, the cook and the owner came out to ask how we liked meals. This does not happen often and what a pleasant surprise in it! The meal finished with a free piece of house made cheesecake! The cost? Just $23 and a little change.
This place has one of the best meatball soup (albóndigas) I ever taste. I recommend El Faro Especial, which has octopus, shrimp and fish meat balls. You don't have to add anything else. Very delicious
Great food, especially the fish meatball soup! It's a must! The seafood plates are also great! I love the seafood combination with garlic!
